The history of the university began at the Southampton Art College in 1855. Established in 1984, the institute was named Southampton Solent in 2004, and it was a university in 2005. It is an innovative university that collaborates with certain commercial organizations to promote itself. It is a highly qualified and experienced university in the maritime industry of the UK, particularly is offered design, technology, geography, art, history, cinema, media and culture, law programs. Solent University has programs approved by Nottingham Trent University. It has been developed in the sea education with the Warsaw Maritime Academy in the UK. There are also advanced faculties in engineering at the University. It won “Best Student Experience Award” at the University Times Higher Education Awards in 2015.
