Southampton Solent University offers prospective students an opportunity to explore its courses, campus facilities, and student experience through its Open Day events.

What Can You Expect at Southampton Solent University’s Open Day?

Open Days allow prospective students to experience the university environment and gather information before making important education decisions.

Students and parents sharing their experiences of Solent’s Open Days highlight the value of attending these events in person.

During an Open Day, visitors can:

•  Attend course talks to learn more about their chosen degree programmes.

•  Explore campus facilities through guided tours and visits.

•  Meet course leaders and academic staff to ask questions about studying at the university.

•  Discover the university environment and gain an insight into student life.

•  Explore Southampton to become more familiar with the city and surrounding area.

Learn More About Your Chosen Course

One of the main recommendations shared by Open Day visitors is to attend the course talk for the subject you are interested in.

These sessions can help prospective students understand what their chosen programme involves and what to expect from their studies.

Meeting course leaders and academic staff also provides an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the university’s teaching environment.

How to Make the Most of an Open Day

Visitors recommend being flexible when planning an Open Day schedule. Although it is useful to identify the talks and activities you want to attend, leaving time for unexpected opportunities can make the visit more valuable.

Keeping an open and flexible schedule allows prospective students to explore different facilities, speak with more people, and experience the campus at their own pace.

Explore the City of Southampton

Choosing a university also means considering the city where you may live and study. Open Day visitors encourage prospective students to explore Southampton as part of their visit.

Spending time in the surrounding area can help students understand what life outside the classroom might be like.
