The UMass Boston campus tour gives prospective students a closer look at academic spaces, student life and everyday experiences on campus. More than 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students study at UMass Boston, and the tour is presented by second-year students Abdul and Isabella.

The tour introduces some of the university’s main academic buildings, social spaces, library facilities, sports areas and student accommodation.

A Campus Close to Boston

UMass Boston is located on the Columbia Point peninsula, just minutes from downtown Boston. Free university shuttles connect the campus to the JFK Red Line station, giving students access to the wider Boston area.

Students can easily reach destinations such as Fenway Park, TD Garden and the Museum of Fine Arts.

The Campus Center

Opened in 2004, the Campus Center is one of the main places where students spend time between classes. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the harbour, while comfortable lounge spaces create areas for students to meet and relax.

The building is also home to student services, student life activities and a variety of events.

At the Student Activities Office, students can find discounted tickets for both on-campus and off-campus events.

Student Clubs and Dining

The third floor of the Campus Center includes spaces for student clubs and organisations. These areas give students opportunities to become more involved in campus life.

The main dining hall also offers a range of food choices, including:

Student Support and Relaxation

The Campus Center also provides several important student support services. Disability Services assists students who require accommodations.

On the ground floor, the One Stop Office provides support with financial aid, class registration and payment-related questions.

University Hall

Opened in 2016, University Hall is one of the newest academic buildings on campus. It supports several disciplines, including the arts, performing arts and chemistry.

The Beacon Café is also located inside University Hall.

The New Quad

The university’s new quad is a five-acre green space located in the heart of campus. It includes accessible walkways, picnic areas, basketball courts and open green areas.

Students can use the space to exercise, meet friends or simply relax between classes.

Integrated Science Complex

The Integrated Science Complex provides students with high-tech research spaces and laboratories. Students studying subjects such as natural sciences or psychology may spend a significant amount of time here.

The building is designed to support collaboration and practical research.

Healey Library

Healey Library is the tallest building on campus and houses more than 58,000 books and documents. It offers both group study rooms and quiet study spaces.

Library staff can also help students:

Clark Athletic Center

Clark Athletic Center offers a range of sports and recreational facilities. It includes an ice rink, basketball court, varsity training room and study space for student athletes.

Although the centre primarily supports student athletes, it also offers daily recreational activities for the wider student community.

Living on Campus

The Residence Hall, opened in 2018, offers students the opportunity to live directly on campus. It provides 24-hour security and assistance.

Students can choose from different room types, from single rooms to rooms for four students, with many offering harbour views.
