University of Portsmouth Open Day 2026: Your Guide to the Day
The University of Portsmouth will hold its next Undergraduate Open Day on Sunday, 11 October 2026. Student Ambassador Marina explains how the Open Day works and what prospective students can see and do throughout their visit.
Start Your Day at Check-In
Your Open Day begins at check-in, where you can collect your guide and decide where you would like to go first.
Visitors are advised to have the QR code received by email ready when checking in. Student ambassadors will also be available throughout the day, whether you need directions, advice on where to have lunch or answers to other questions.
Explore the Campus and Portsmouth
A campus tour is one of the first ways to start exploring the university. Student ambassadors take visitors around some of the main university buildings while sharing their own experiences of studying in Portsmouth.
The tour includes places such as the Ravelin Sports Centre and the university library. During term time, the library is open 24 hours, and students can book rooms for group assignments.
If you would like to see more of Portsmouth itself, you can also join a coach tour to explore the city and see the beach. The tour can be fitted around the key talks you want to attend during the day.
Choose the Talks That Matter to You
Different talks throughout the Open Day cover practical aspects of university life. You can learn more about topics ranging from making the most of student finance to finding your new home in Portsmouth.
Visitors can also speak to the Student Support Team or visit the information desks if they have additional questions.
Discover Your Course and Facilities
One of the most important parts of the day is finding out whether your chosen course feels right for you. Course talks will usually take place in the relevant course building, giving you an opportunity to see the facilities used by students.
Marina explains that when she attended an Open Day herself, she was able to meet the people who would later teach her. Seeing the university in person helped her picture herself studying there.
Look Inside Student Accommodation
A number of student halls are open during the Open Day. Visitors can look around the bedrooms, kitchens and social areas to get a clearer idea of the different accommodation options. Students can choose between catered and non-catered accommodation, with options located in the city or closer to the sea.
Other Upcoming Open Days
If you cannot attend on 11 October, the University of Portsmouth has additional Undergraduate Open Days scheduled for:
• Saturday, 24 October 2026
• Sunday, 15 November 2026
• Saturday, 5 December 2026
