University of Southampton Open Days 2026: What Should Visitors Know?

University of Southampton Open Days 2026: What Should Visitors Know?

University of Southampton Open Days 2026 give prospective students a chance to explore the campus, courses, accommodation and the wider city. The university encourages visitors to plan ahead and use the day to gather as much information as possible before making a university decision.

Most students are based at the main Southampton campus around Highfield, where key study spaces, the main library and Students’ Union are located. Depending on their subject, visitors may also explore a specialist campus.

Open Day Dates

The main University of Southampton Open Days in 2026 will take place on:

•  Sunday, 27 September 2026

•  Sunday, 11 October 2026

•  Saturday, 7 November 2026

Winchester School of Art will also hold Open Days on:

•  Sunday, 11 October 2026

•  Saturday, 7 November 2026

A virtual Open Day will take place on Saturday, 21 November 2026.

Do Not Be Afraid to Ask Questions

Asking questions is one of the best ways to learn more during an Open Day. Visitors can speak with staff and students about anything they want to understand better. Questions about courses, accommodation, student life or campus facilities can help prospective students make a more informed choice.

Plan Your Day in Advance

Planning ahead can help visitors make better use of their Open Day. Students should check the campus map and look at the timings of the talks and activities they want to attend.

This can make it easier to organise the day and avoid missing important sessions.

Explore Southampton

Choosing a university also means choosing the city where you may live for several years. Southampton offers a lively city environment, and exploring the area can help students understand whether they would feel comfortable studying and living there.

Visit Accommodation

Seeing accommodation in person can make it easier to compare options. Visitors can explore university residences or speak with accommodation staff at the information centre to learn more about where they may live.

Visit the Information Fair

The information fair gives students an opportunity to explore different subjects, clubs and societies.

This can help prospective students understand more about the wider university experience beyond academic study.

Virtual Open Day

Students who cannot visit Southampton or Winchester in person can attend the virtual Open Day on 21 November 2026. The online event will include subject talks, information about campus life and opportunities to hear from current students.

University of Southampton Open Days allow prospective students to explore academic programmes, accommodation, campus life and the city before making a final decision.

The in-person events on 27 September, 11 October and 7 November 2026, together with the virtual Open Day on 21 November, provide several opportunities to learn more about the university.
