John Marshall’s namesake, Marshall University, was founded in 1837. The university is located in Huntington, one of West Virginia’s historically rich, safe, and healthy cities. Marshall University holds a high reputation; for example, according to the American Board of Criminalistics (2015), the university ranked 1st in the U.S. for Criminalistics, and in the U.S. News & World Report 2018 Best Regional Universities, it ranked 15th.

The university’s symbolic colors are green and white.
