The University of Vermont

The University of Vermont was founded in 1791 in Burlington, Vermont, USA. UVM ranks among the top 100 universities and the top 50 public universities in the United States. It is the first university in Vermont and the fifth oldest in New England.


UVM is a land-grant research university and is classified as “R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity.” The university’s main accrediting body is the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).


Student life is rich and diverse; modern and environmentally sustainable facilities, such as the Dudley H. Davis Center, are available to students. UVM has also achieved success in athletics. The sports teams, known as the "Catamounts," compete at the NCAA Division I level.
