BSBI Introduces New IET Preparation & Readiness Guide for Prospective Students

Berlin School of Business and Innovation (BSBI) has introduced a new Internal English Test (IET) Preparation & Readiness Guide for students who are scheduled for or interested in taking the IET assessment.

According to BSBI, the guide has been developed to reflect the realities of the student profiles the institution works with, particularly those who may have strong academic potential and motivation but less confidence or limited international exposure. The guide aims to help students better understand the assessment process and approach it in a more confident and informed way.

Rather than encouraging students to memorise fixed answers, the guide focuses on helping them understand the purpose behind interview questions so they can provide more authentic, calm and thoughtful responses. BSBI notes that the overall approach is designed to make the interview process less intimidating and help students build confidence through practical examples and guided preparation.

The guide introduces students to the structure of the Internal English Test, which consists of four sections:

  1. Speaking (5 minutes)
  2. Listening (5 minutes)
  3. Writing (10 minutes)
  4. Reading (10 minutes)

Students are also provided with information about communication skills, preparation strategies, mock practice activities, technical preparation requirements and academic integrity expectations.

Among the topics covered in the guide are effective communication, confidence-building techniques, listening and reading strategies, writing structure, speaking preparation and practical advice for approaching each section of the assessment. The guide also includes the story of Alex, a prospective student, to demonstrate how applicants can prepare for different stages of the IET and build confidence throughout the process.

In addition, BSBI provides students with a seven-day preparation plan, technical recommendations for completing the assessment and guidance on academic integrity. The institution emphasises that the IET is designed to assess whether students can communicate effectively in an international academic environment rather than demonstrate perfect grammar or native-level fluency.

BSBI has also shared the eligibility criteria for students interested in booking the Internal English Test. Students may be eligible to take the IET if they have applied for a UCA or UNINETTUNO programme and meet one of the following requirements:

  1. An overall IELTS score of 6.0 with one component at 5.0, while all remaining components are at least 5.5
  2. An overall Duolingo English Test score of 100
  3. A Medium of Instruction (MOI) qualification completed within the last five years

According to BSBI, the guide is intended to help students feel more prepared for the assessment process while demonstrating their communication skills in a natural, confident and authentic manner.
