Shorelight Universities 2027: US University Options and Admission Pathways for International Students

International students planning to study in the United States in 2027 can explore a range of university options and undergraduate admission pathways through Shorelight. Different programmes allow students to begin their studies based on their academic performance, English proficiency, and individual educational needs.

Admission Pathways for International Students

Shorelight offers three main undergraduate entry pathways: International Direct (ID), Academic Accelerator Program (AAP/IAP), and Extended Accelerator Program (EAP).

International Direct (ID)

International Direct (ID) is designed for students with strong academic performance and a high level of English proficiency.

Students begin their first year alongside American students in larger classes and can select courses with guidance from an academic advisor. The programme lasts two semesters, covering the first year of university study.

Academic Accelerator Program (AAP/IAP)

Academic Accelerator Program (AAP/IAP) supports students who need additional academic or English-language preparation before progressing through their undergraduate studies.

Key features include:

•  Students study alongside other international students in classes of up to 25 students.

•  Course selection is determined by a Global Advisor.

•  The programme lasts two semesters.

•  Students progress to the second year after successfully completing all required courses.

Depending on the university, this pathway may also be known as Global 1 Year (G1Y), Pathway, or Global Achievement Academy 2 (GAA).

Extended Accelerator Program (EAP)

Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) is designed for students who require a longer first-year pathway because of their English proficiency or academic results.

Unlike ID and AAP, EAP lasts three semesters. Students attend classes of up to 25 international students, with course selection guided by a Global Advisor. After successfully completing the required courses, students progress to their second year of university.

This pathway may also be called Global 1 Year 3, Pathway 3, or Global Achievement Academy 3.

Important Conditions for 2027 Applicants

Tuition Fees and Accommodation

University fees may change between academic years, with updated fees generally finalised after June 1.

Housing is guaranteed at designated signature universities, although a specific accommodation option cannot be guaranteed. University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB), Heriot-Watt University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) are listed as exceptions to the general housing arrangement.

Academic Results and Scholarships

Students receiving renewable scholarships must maintain the required high GPA to remain eligible.

Admission and scholarship offers are based on submitted academic documents and may be revised after final results become available.

English-Language Placement

Students take an English placement test after arriving on campus. If their placement results differ from the English-language qualifications submitted during the application process, they may be assigned to a different admission programme.

This change can affect both the duration and cost of the first-year programme.
