Semmelweis University, founded in 1769, is the oldest medical university in Hungary. The University is located in Budapest, one of the safest cities in Hungary. Semmelweis draws attention from its advanced research and innovations among medical societies and organizations around the world. It was ranked among TOP 100 universities in Hungary and 101-150 in medical education ranking by QS World University 2017 in the world. About 10,000 students from 60 different countries study at the University. International students are about 18% of the total
student community. There are five faculties at the University offering courses in Hungarian, English and German languages. All faculties are accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Assembly.
Semmelweis University has one of the largest medical biological collections in Hungary. A large number of labs, libraries, health centers and high-class dormitories are operating at the campus, which covers a wide area. All conditions have been created on the campus. So students can spend their leisure time efficiently. Among the graduates of the university, several medical workers have been awarded the Nobel Prize.
